Although I’m now officially retired from chess teaching and working mostly on writing books and articles, I can still take on coaching projects of particular interest if I think I’m the right person for the job.
I can offer individual and small group coaching within the Twickenham area.
Private lessons take place preferably at my flat (Twickenham Green) but I can also travel very locally or provide online lessons on lichess.org.
I also offer FREE assessments for children, through which I’ll be able to advise you on their current playing strength and how they could best make progress.
If you’re looking for someone to entertain a 5-year-old, to be honest they’d probably be better off playing simpler strategy games and moving onto chess when they’re mature enough to take an adult approach.
If you’re looking for someone who will help your children become chess champions, I may not be the right teacher for you.
But if you’re looking for a mentor, a training partner or just a friend, especially for children who might find it hard fitting in elsewhere, I might be able to help you.
Contact me for details of my current coaching fees.
I’m prepared to run groups for free as long as children are genuinely interested and, for children of primary school age, parents are proactively involved in the learning process.
